Head Coach Bernie Chisholm is in his 31st season as head coach of the X-Women and X-Men cross country and track & field teams, in addition to his several years of international and national coaching experience. Bernie has been recognized with several honours, including 17 AUS cross country Coach of the Year awards (9 men’s and 8 women’s) and 2 AUS track & field Coach of the Year awards (1 men's and 1 women's). He is a member of the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame, along with being inducted to the StFX Sport Hall of Fame in 2014. 

Coach Chisholm has led the StFX cross country program to 16 AUS championship titles (8 men's and 8 women's), including most recently the men's title for the past consecutive 5 years, and both team titles in 2012. Bernie led the X-Men cross country team to their first CIS team medal in 2008 as they won silver, and followed up with a CIS bronze in 2010. He also led the X-Women to their first CIS medal, with a CIS bronze in 2007. He led the X-Men track & field team to their first AUS championship title in 2013-14.

During Bernie’s time with the StFX cross country program he has had 5 athletes represent Canada in international competitions, including three-time Olympian Eric Gillis. He also coached at the high school level for 35 years, winning 57 provincial titles.
