X-Men register results at Halifax meet

Halifax, NS – Members of the X-Men track and field team competed in various running and jumping events Friday evening and Saturday at the NS Athletics Indoor Open at the Canada Games Center.

The X-Men had competitors in the high jump, long jump, 60m dash, 300m, 600m and 1500m events.

Logan Coulet came first in the high jump with a 1.90m result, wile teammate Brad Barclay won the long jump with a 6.47m jump.

Barclay was also the top X-Men finisher in the 60m dash as his time of 7.19 was good enough for sixth place overall. Coulet (7.50) placed 9th, while Jonny West (7.55) was 10th and Isaac Fagnan's time of 7.78 put him 15th amongst runners age 18-19.

In the 300m sprint for age 18-19, Eric Knight came fourth with a 39.54 clocking and Fagnan was fifth at 39.60. For age 20-34, Barclay came third overall with a 36.42 result, while Eric Sutton (37.75) and West were fifth and seventh, respectively.

Sutton came first in the 600m race for age 20-34 with a time of 1:25.95. Eric Knight was first in the same distance for age 18-19, crossing the line at 1:27.10.

The X-Men had eight competitors in the 1500m race, including three in the age 18-19 classification. Jacob Benoit was second with a time of 4:01.21, followed by Evan Knight (4:18.04, 5th) and Findlay Day (4:22.49, 7th). For age 20-34, Quinn Alexander was the top X-Men in seventh place with a 4:10.42 finish. Graydon Staples (4:11.67, 8th), Luc Gallant (4:12.86, 10th), Paul MacLellan (4:16.30, 12th) and Addison Derhak (4:18.36, 13th) rounded out the field.

Next on the schedule is the UNB Invitational being hosted in Saint John, NB on January 31st and February 1st.
