Flower, Brennan and Rawling set new meet records in Moncton

Moncton, NB – Members of the X-Men and X-Women track & field teams competed at the Moncton Open Saturday afternoon.

Veteran fifth year X-Women sprinter Allie Flower broke two meet records on the day with a pair of first place finishes. Her time of 41.62 in the 300m broker her own record of 42.67 set two years ago in 2017. She then followed up with a 1:38.88 in the 600m sprint, bettering the meet record of 1:39.61 from 2010.

StFX teammate Jane Hergett also bettered the meet record in the 600m with a 1:39.32 showing in second place. Both Hergett and Flower competed in the age 20-34 division.

In the women's 18-19 age category, Lauren Liem (1:47.85) and Chloe Walker (1.50.33) came first and second for X in the 600m, while Olivia Crewe was first in the 300m with a time of 46.36. Crewe also placed third overall in the 60m sprint with a clocking of 8.78.

In the 60m race for age 20-34, Samantha Taylor was third with an 8.12 time. She was also third in the 300m at 43.38.

Breanna Sandluck came second in the 1500m for age 18-19 with a 5:26.59 result. X-Women teammates Hana Marmura (4:51.94) and Zoe Johnston (4:51.94) were second and third, respectively in the 1500m for age 20-34.

Rounding out the sprints was the 60m hurdles that saw a pair of X-Women place 1-2. Catherine Kennedy won the race with a time of 9.53, followed by Megan Graham at 9.61.

The X-Women did not have any throwers competing on Saturday but Lani Deakin took home a first place finish in the long jump with a 1.45m result in the final.

In men's action, a pair of X-Men broke meet records. Veteran sprinter Tim Brennan broke the previous record of 54.20 set in 2016 in the 400m race with a time of 52.74. Fellow teammate Eric Sutton also bettered the record with his second place showing of 53.68.

Brennan and Sutton also placed 1-2 in the 600m sprint, with times of 1:24.97 and 1:20.34. Alex Moore (1:32.76) was first in the 600m for age 18-19.

AUS cross country champion Angus Rawling won the 1500m race and his time of 4:02.28 broke that of X-Men Petr Doubravsky (4:03.48), set at the Moncton meet in 2010.

In the 1500m for age 18-19, Luc Gallant ran to a first place finish with a time of 4:35.63.

In the shorter sprints, Adrian Kinney claimed first place in the 60m dash, clocking in at 7.15 for the X-Men. Brad Barclay (37.90) and Taylor Leger (38.61) came second and third in the 300m race, and Leger was also second in the 60m hurdles, finishing in at 9.42.

In the age 18-19 throwing events, Aidan McMann placed first in the shot put with a 11.86m throw, and was second in the weight throw at 13.24m. Riley Jennings came second in the weight throw for age 20-34 with a 13.33m result.

Garrette Vanderslyk took home a second place finish for X in the long jump with a 6.06m jump.
