Runners and jumpers compete in Halifax

Halifax, NS – The X-Men and X-Women track and field team competed at the Athletics NS Open on Saturday at the Canada Games Center in a variety of running and jumping events.

Complete results of the meet are available here while top three performances are featured as follows.

The women's 60m hurdles (age 18-19) saw Megan Graham came up with a second place finish for the X-Women at 9.58 seconds. In the same event for age 20-34, it was a StFX podium sweep with Abbi Finnan (9.32), Catherine Kennedy (10.01) and Mary Catherine Thompson (10.40) coming 1-2-3.

The women's 600m race (age 18-19) saw Emma Floris claimed second place with a time of 1:41.87. In the same event for age 20-34, StFX's Allie Flower was second at 1:39.31. Floris was first in the 300m dash (age 18-19) with a clocking of 42.33. Graham was third in the same race at 42.97.

Flower earned her second podium finish of the day with a third place performance in the 300m (age 2024), finishing at 42.17.

In the women's 1000m race, Paige Chisholm and Kevyn Timmons earned second and third place showings for the X-Women, finishing with times of 3:12.21 and 3:12.84, respectively.

Liz MacDonald came third in the 3000m with a 10:44.16 finish.

In the jumping events, Deneisha Bagot was third in the women's high jump with a 1.55m showing. Hayley Wilson was third in the long jump with a 5.16m jump.

On the men's side, X-Men sprinter Adrian Kinney claimed top spot in the 60m dash. His time of 6.94 bettered a field of 24 in the race. Teammate Jonathan West was third with a time of 7.11.

In the 60m hurdles, Tim Brennan sprinted to a second place finish with a 9.60 showing.

Keithan Linden was second for the X-Men in the 300m dash (age 18-19). He finished at 41.04. In the same race for age 20-34, West (36.72) and Brennan (37.08) were second and third, respectively.

Paul MacLellan ran to second place in the 1500m race, finishing with a time of 4:15.91.

In the 3000m run (age 18-19), Addison Derhak earned the top time with a 9:08.26 time. In the same event for age 20-34, Angus Rawling (8:26.00), Cal DeWolfe (8:28.00) and Alex Cyr (8:36.00) had a podium sweep for the X-Men, finishing 1-2-3.

In the jumping events, Garrett Vanderslyk was first in the long jump (age 18-19) with a 5.95m jump, while his teammate Linden was third at 4.95m. In the men's age 20-34 long jump, Kirishnia Cooper placed second for X with a 6.06m result. He also placed second in the triple jump with a 12:57m jump while Josh Dames (12.50m) was third.

Next on the schedule for the track & field athletes is the McGill Team Challenge taking place in Montreal on Friday and Saturday, January 27-28.
