Moncton, NB – The X-Women track & field team claimed second spot overall at the 2015 Subway AUS track & field championship held this past weekend. The X-Women scored 106 points, coming second to the AUS champion Dalhousie Tigers who tallied 165.

UNB placed third with 56 points, followed by Universite de Moncton (27), Saint Mary's (13), Acadia (11) and St. Thomas (2).

The X-Women won three gold medals, six silver and seven bronze over the course of the two-day championship event.

Head coach Bernie Chisholm was very pleased with the showing of the X-Women and X-Men teams on the weekend, commenting, "Our conference is getting stronger each year and that could be seen by the large number of meet records that were set this weekend. We came away with a total of 28 medals, five athletes named first team all-conference and 12 second team all-conference. So overall we have to be pleased to see our program continue to grow."

AUS rookie of the year Hayley Wilson (Skye Glen, NS) won a gold medal in the 60m dash, clocking a time of 7.74, along with two silver medals in the triple jump (11.38m) and long jump (5.41m).

Hailey Pollock, a second year thrower from Barrie, ON was the gold medalist in the shot put, posting an 11.82m result.

The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Bridget Brennan (Beechwood, NB), Allie Flower (Lunenberg, NS), Beth Lawrence (Ardois, NS) and Eilish MacQuarrie (Antigonish, NS) won the third gold medal for the X-Women. Their time in the final was 4:01.89.

MacQuarrie was also a silver medalist in the 300m, finishing with a time of 41.35. She rounded out the weekend with five total medals, claiming bronze in both the 60m dash (7.96) and 600m (1:40.19) and winning silver with the 4x200m relay team.

Silver medalist Nadine Otten (Clinton, ON) ran a 9.37 in the 60m hurdles for StFX. Ellen Murphy (Augustine Cove, PE), also a member of the CIS champion X-Women rugby team, won silver in the weight throw with a 13.70m result.

The X-Women 4x200m relay team rounded out the silver medal performances. The team of Allie Flower, Jillian Murphy (Port Williams, NS), Candace Cruickshank (Dartmouth, NS) and Eilish MacQuarrie posted a 1:47.49 result.

Cruickshank also won an individual bronze medal in the 300m race with a time of 42.15. Thrower Hannah Pollock (Barrie, ON) won a pair of bronze medals for the X-Women. She scored 12.58m in the weight throw and 11.14m in the shot put. Mary Catherine Thompson (Antigonish, NS) won a bronze in the high jump with a 1.42m result.

The X-Women 4x800m relay team, with a time of 10:31.96, claimed the final StFX bronze medal. Team members are Kevyn Timmons (Calgary, AB), Ginny Anderson (Antigonish, NS), Liz MacDonald (Bedford, NS) and Beth Lawrence.
