Aigles Bleus fall 3-1 to X-Men

Moncton, NB – The StFX X-Men earned a 3-1 victory over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus Thursday evening in Atlantic University Sport soccer action at Stade Croix Bleue Medavie Stadium.

In their last encounter in Antigonish on September 29th, the X-Men blanked Moncton 3-0.

The Aigles Bleus fall to 2-5-1 on the season in eighth place in the AUS standings and battled hard in the game, but came out on the short end against the stronger X-Men. StFX improvse to 7-1-1 and remain in second place.

Lewis Dye, in the 54th minute, Dan Hayfield, four minutes later scored first half goals for the X-Men to give them a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

Jean-Michel Dako, in the 62nd minute, replied for Moncton to close the game to 2-1. Hayfield scored again in the 74th minute to provide more offensive punch for the X-Men and seal the victory.

StFX keeper and Subway player of the game, Seamus MacDonald, made five saves in the win compared to four for Christian Masimengo of the Aigles.

The Aigles Bleus will next see action on Saturday, October 19th when they host Acadia University in Moncton for a 3:15 pm game. The X-Men will play next on Friday, October 18th in Sydney against Cape Breton.
