ST. JOHN'S, NF - The StFX X-Men (3-5-3) travelled to Newfoundland over the weekend to play the Memorial Sea-Hawks (5-5-1) in a pair of games in AUS soccer action and fell short on both accounts.

Sunday afternoon, Braeden Sheppard (St. John's, NL) recorded his second of back-to-back shutouts over the X-Men in a 1-0 Sea-Hawk win.

In the 35th minute, Tyler Forsey (St. Phillips, NL) scored the game-winner, on an assist from Greg Reid (Torbay, NL).

The SeaHawks held a 13-7 edge in shots on goal.

Sheppard made five saves, while Conception Bay, NF native Thomas Pieroway turned aside three shots for the X-Men in the loss.

Saturday night, Tyler Kirby (St. John's, NL) notched the lone goal of the match in another 1-0 win for the Sea-Hawks.

Stefan Slaney (St. Lawrence, NL) assisted on the marker, which came in the 84th minute.

The Sea-Hawks outshot the X-Men 8-6.

Sheppard made three saves for the win, while Pieroway made two saves in the loss.

With the two losses the X-Men fall to seventh place in the AUS standings with 12 points and are fighting for that final playoff position.

The six points Memorial earned were crucial as they jump to sixth place and have 16 points with one weekend of play left in the AUS regular season schedule.

The X-Men will return to action Saturday, Oct. 31, when they host the Dalhousie Tigers at Oland Stadium, beginning at 3:15 p.m. They will wrap up regular season play on Sunday, Nov. 1 by hosting Saint Mary's.

Memorial will play games at Moncton (Oct. 31) and Mount Allison (Nov. 1) to close out the season.

The Subway AUS Championship is slated for Nov. 5-8 at Acadia.
