Soccer X-Men wrap up pre-season action

The X-Men soccer team wrapped up pre-season exhibition play with a 1-2 record.

On Saturday at StFX, the X-Men hosted fellow AUS opponents Cape Breton and Acadia. The Capers played to a 3-1 victory over the X-Men in their first game of the day, while Acadia nipped StFX 1-0 in an evening match-up. Saturday's games were shortened 35 minute halves.

In the game against Cape Breton, veteran X-Men midfielder Randy Ribeiro opened the scoring in the 7th minute, but it was the Capers who would come back for the win.

Mark Stewart, Sandro Raskovic and Joel Eckert tallied for the visitors to give them the 3-1 win.

In the game against Acadia, Cochrane Noseworthy-Smith scored the lone goal of the game for the Axemen in the 14th minute as they held for the 1-0 win.   

On Tuesday afternoon the X-Men played to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Holland College Hurricanes in an afternoon match at Oland Stadium.

All the scoring came in the opening half as Natneal Tecle, Serge Dossou and Mateo Ossa scored for the blue and white.

The X-Men open AUS regular season play with a pair of home games this Saturday and Sunday, September 12th and 13th. On Saturday they will host the Aigles Bleues de Moncton, followed by a stint against the CIS ranked No. 3 UNB Varsity Reds on Sunday. Game time on both days is 3:15 pm.
