Antigonish, NS - The StFX X-Men (4-3-3) broke a scoreless tie with three unanswered goals in the final 32 minutes to earn a 3-0 shutout win over the Memorial University Sea-Hawks (3-6-1) in AUS soccer action Sunday afternoon at StFX Oland Stadium.

"We responded very well after a couple tough games. It was a great team effort," X-Men captain Randy Ribeiro (Cambridge, ON) said after the match.

After the teams battled to a 0-0 tie at halftime, Ribeiro opened the scoring in the 57th minute when he converted a cross from Jordan Roberts (Whitby, ON) with a highlight reel diving header that beat Sea-Hawk freshman keeper Andrew Anson (Ottawa, ON).

In the 88th minute, second-half substitution Natneal Tecle (Calgary, AB) eluded three Sea-Hawk defenders before ripping a low shot inside the left post beyond the outstretched arm of Anson.

Forward Kareem Henry (Mississauga, ON) capped the three-goal explosion in stoppage time, converting a pass from Ribeiro, who made a run and darted by a Sea-Hawk defender before making the centering play.

X-Men freshman keeper Thomas Pieroway (Conception Bay, NL), who made two saves for the shutout, was named the Subway player of the match.
