X-Men, Huskies tie in AUS soccer play

The StFX X-Men (4-2-3) and Saint Mary's Huskies (5-2-2) played to a 2-2 tie Friday night in AUS soccer action at Huskies Stadium in Halifax.

Randy Ribeiro, a junior wing player from Cambridge, Ont, opened the scoring for the X-Men in the 38th minute.

The blue and white led 1-0 at intermission.

In the 70th minute, fifth-year defender Max Maund, of Courtenay, BC, doubled the advantage for the X-Men.

The two goal lead did not hold long however, as the Huskies rallied late, with a pair of goals, to earn the home tie.

Danny Bachar scored just two minutes after the Maund goal in the 72nd minute, then Pawel Gorski tallied in the equalizer in the 78th minute.

Steven Rodenhizer manned the StFX net, while keeper Alex Bokalias was in goal for the Huskies.

The X-Men return to action Sunday afternoon when they host the Dalhousie Tigers (3-3-2) at Oland Stadium. Match time is 3:15 p.m.
