Natneal Tecle of the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men's soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22, 2013.

A first-year arts student from Calgary, Alta., midfielder Tecle had a two-goal weekend in back-to-back wins at home over the Mount Allison Mounties and the Saint Mary's Huskies.

He scored his first career AUS goal in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Mounties. On Sunday, Tecle then scored the game-winning and only goal in a 1-0 win over the CIS No. 7-ranked Saint Mary's Huskies.

Tecle was named the Subway Player of the Game in Sunday's win and the X-Men now sit atop the AUS men's soccer standings with a 4-2-1 record for 13 points.

Caroline McIlroy of the Memorial University Sea-Hawks' women's cross country team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22, 2013.

A Master of Science student in her third year of eligibility from St. Phillip's, Nfld., McIlroy was the winner of the women's 6km race at the StFX AUS Invitational cross country meet.

With a time of 21:58, she finished 22 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Melissa Hardy of the StFX X-Women. After two kilometres, McIlroy took the lead from Hardy and never relinquished it.

An AUS all-star the past two seasons, McIlroy has only recently shifted her training from ultra-marathon distances to the shorter AUS cross country distance.
