X-Men fall 2-0 to Tigers

After winning two games in a row, the X-Men dropped a 2-0 decision to the Dalhousie Tigers Wednesday night in Halifax.

Head coach Graham Kennedy said, "It was a tough night for us because we again had a lot of possession, but gave up two unnecessary free kicks that resulted in DAL goals. Five of seven goals against this season have been free kicks. We lacked discipline and patience tonight and it hurt us."

With the win the Tigers improve to 3-1-1 and move into first place in the AUS conference. The X-Men fall to 2-2-1 in a tie for fourth place.

Bezick Evraire got the Tigers on the board early with a goal in the second minute, curling the ball past X-Men keeper Sam Hutchison. The 1-0 lead held through the first half.

Both teams battled throughout the second half until Dalhousie's Nathan Rogers took advantage of a nice pass and headed in their second goal of the game in the 65th minute to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

The X-Men continued to press in the final minutes, but they could not crack the Tigers defense, led by Subway Player of the Game Jordan Mannix. Jason Ross earned the win in nets for Dalhousie.

The X-Men are back in action Saturday, Sept. 21st when they host the Mount Allison Mounties at 3:30 pm. Dalhousie will play Acadia on Saturday at 3:15 pm.
