Local forward Jacob Hudson to join X-Men hockey program

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX men's hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce that forward Jacob Hudson from Antigonish, N.S. will be joining the X-Men program for the 2021-22 season.

"We are very happy to be adding Jacob to our X-Men Hockey program," comments Coach Peddle. "He is a high character individual with strong leadership abilities, evidenced by his captaincy with the Moncton Wildcats. Jacob has a great blend of skill and grit and is a fierce competitor - he will be a good fit to our style of play."

Peddle continues, "Jacob has come up through all of our local Jr. X-Men and Antigonish Bulldog programs so we are quite familiar of the type of person and player we are gaining. He will be a great addition to our group."

Hudson has been with the Wildcats for the past four and a half seasons, though only able to play in four games this season with the ongoing pandemic. Over 200 games the captain of the QMJHL squad has amassed 78 points (29G, 49A), and competed in an additional 21 playoff games (seven points). He spent two years previous as an assistant captain with the Wildcats. A fan favourite in Moncton, Jacob is a leader on and off the ice, and is well known for giving back to the community.

A product of the local Antigonish Minor Hockey Association, Hudson competed with the Nova Jr. X-Men Major Bantams and two seasons with the Cape Breton West Islanders in the N.S. Major Midget Hockey League where he was fortunate to win the national Telus Cup in 2017 with the Islanders. The captain of the championship squad, Hudson earned most valuable player honours at the tournament.

Upon looking ahead to the next stage of his hockey career, Hudson notes, "I am very excited to further my education and continue playing hockey for the X-Men in my hometown where it all began."
