Aigles Bleus blank X-Men 3-0

Moncton, NB - Goaltender Étienne Montpetit handled 30 shots in backstopping the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus to a 3-0 shutout victory over the StFX X-Men Friday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Moncton scored once in each period for the win. Alexandre Jacob (from Gabriel Vanier and Danick Crète) got the puck rolling for the home team with a goal late in the first period.

Vincent Deslauriers (Vanier, Crète) made it 2-0 in the middle period, and Joey Richard (Robbie Graham, Francis Thibeault), scored on an empty net late in the third, to round out the Aigles Bleus scoring.

Earning Subway player of the game honours, Montpetit, faced 13 shots in the second period and 10 in the first.

Blade Dixon-Mann suffered the loss for the X-Men, with 12 shots in each of the second and third periods.

Both the X-Men and Aigles Bleus were each 0 for 3 on the power play.

Moncton will play again on Saturday night when they host the Dalhousie Tigers at 7:00 p.m. StFX will travel to Fredericton to face-off against the UNB Reds, also on Saturday night.
