ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX men's hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce the addition of Jeremiah Addison to the roster, a 2015 Montreal Canadiens draft pick.

A native of Brampton, Ont., the 22 year old has spent the past season with the Laval Rocket, the AHL affiliate team of the Canadiens as he spent the majority of the season recovering from shoulder surgery, suffering an injury right before the Canadiens training camp in September, 2017. The 6'0, 187 pound forward suited up for six games in the 2017-18 season for the Rockets.

The Canadiens' seventh-round pick (207th overall) in 2015, Addison played 51 games with the OHL's Windsor Spitfires in 2016-17, registering 24 goals and 19 assists. As co-captain of the team, he helped lead the Spitfires to the 2017 Memorial Cup championship, contributing five goals and an assist in four games.

StFX head coach Brad Peddle comments, "We are extremely happy to be adding Jeremiah to our X-Men hockey program. He is a very talented two-way forward with great work ethic and speed, who can not only create offence, but is also very tenacious and not afraid to play in the tough areas. He was a captain of the Memorial Cup championship team in Windsor and his leadership and championship experience will make him an outstanding addition to our group."

Addison will join the X-Men program in January and commence classes, but will red shirt for the second half of the season until he is eligible to play in September, 2019. His parents, Blair and Dawn, are both StFX alumni and as Coach Peddle notes, "Jeremiah has a lot of familiarity with our program dating back to his minor hockey days where he attended X-Men hockey summer camps."

"He also has numerous former teammates on our current X-Men squad. He had a tremendous OHL career and signed his NHL deal with Montreal but has since had a change of heart and has decided to pursue his education. He is a good student with great character and we look forward to seeing him in our lineup next season where he will be an impact addition."

Addison, likewise, is eager to be joining the X-Men, commenting "Both my parents attended StFX and loved it. I'm excited to carry on that tradition and I am grateful for the opportunity to join a strong hockey program while pursuing my education."
