Jagger Dirk signs amateur contract with AHL’s Binghamton Devils

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX X-Men hockey defenseman Jagger has signed an amateur tryout with the Binghamton Devils of the American Hockey League (AHL), as announced by the club earlier today.

X-Men head coach Brad Peddle commented, "We are extremely pleased for the opportunity that Jagger has been given. He has worked very hard over his four years at StFX in every aspect to develop his game. Accumulating many AUS and U SPORTS accolades, Jagger is very deserving of this opportunity and we wish him all the best."

A two-time AUS all-star, and a 2018 U SPORTS first team All-Canadian, Jagger Dirk has been a leader on the X-Men blue line for the past four seasons where he totaled 73 points (15 goals, 58 assists) in 114 games played. He was a key member of the X-Men teams who won back-to-back AUS championships in 2016 and 2017, along with their recently earned U SPORTS silver medal at the University Cup national championship, where he also received tournament all-star recognition.

Playing out of Binghamton in the state of New York, the Devils are the AHL affiliate team to the NHL's New Jersey Devils. They currently have a 21-33 record in seventh place in the North Division with 12 games remaining in the regular season. Dirk has already joined the club and will play with them for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
