X-Men hockey welcomes top recruit Santino Centorame

Antigonish, NS - StFX men's hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce that defenceman Santino Centorame, a top recruit out of the Ontario Hockey League, will be joining the AUS champion X-Men program this fall.

"We are extremely pleased to be adding Santino to our X-Men hockey program," comments Peddle. "He is a tremendous player coming off an outstanding all-star season where he captained a very strong team to a great playoff run. He will be an impact recruit that we are very much looking forward to seeing in the blue and white this fall."

The captain of the Owen Sound Attack for the past two years, Centorame scored 73 points in 68 games last season for the third place Attack, tallying seven goals and 66 assists. The 5'11", 190 pound 21-year old native of Mississauga, Ont. also scored 14 points in 17 playoff games as he helped lead his team through three rounds of OHL post-season play, falling 4-2 to the eventual league champion Erie Otters in the semifinals.

Centorame was honored as an OHL first team all-star for his play during the 2017-18 season, and Coach Peddle notes, "He plays big minutes in every situation, and is a very dynamic defenceman. His mobility and hockey sense will be a great addition to our blue line. He is a very high character individual with great leadership abilities that will fit into our dressing room very well."
