Nicole Blanche of the Saint Mary's Huskies women's hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending March 12, 2017.

A fourth-year commerce student from Dunville, N.L., Blanche was an integral part of the Huskies win in the Subway AUS Women's Hockey Championship best-of-three final series versus the StFX X-Women.

Saint Mary's earned a 3-2 victory in triple overtime in Game 3 of the series on Tuesday in Halifax. Blanche notched the equalizer in the third period to send the game into overtime.

She had two goals and two assists in the three-game final series.

Chase Marchand of the StFX X-Men hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending March 12, 2017.

A first-year arts student from Halifax, N.S., Marchand was named the MVP of the Subway AUS Men's Hockey Championship this past week.

The defending AUS champion X-Men swept the defending national champion UNB Varsity Reds in two games in the best-of-three final playoff series to claim their second consecutive conference title. 

Marchand posted 49 saves and was named the Subway Player of the Game in StFX's 2-1 win over UNB in Fredericton on Monday. He had another 31 saves as the X-Men downed the Varsity Reds 5-4 in Game 2 Wednesday night in Antigonish, N.S.

Marchand led the conference with a .925 save percentage in the postseason. StFX was undefeated in the AUS playoffs, winning seven straight games to advance to the Cavendish Farms Coupe U Cup being hosted by UNB March 16-19 in Fredericton, N.B.
