Fredericton, NB – The StFX X-Men skated to a 3-1 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies in AUS men's hockey action, Saturday night at the Grant-Harvey Centre in front of 557 spectators.

Zack MacQueen had two goals and an assist for the X-Men in the win, including the game winner with only 1:48 left in the game.

Matt MacLeod was the lone goal scorer for the Tommies.

The game was scoreless until midway through the second when MacLeod buried a rebound to give the Tommies a 1-0 lead. JC Campagna and Bryce Milson picked up assists on the play.

The lead was short-lived, though, as MacQueen evened the score less than three minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 after 40 minutes. Jagger Dirk and Michael Kirkpatrick were in on the assists.

MacQueen netted his second of the game, from Kristoff Kontos, with less than two minutes to go to give the X-Men a 2-1 lead.

The Tommies pulled goaltender Tyson Teichmann for the extra attacker, but a turnover by Eric Diodati proved costly as MacQueen set up Rob Slaney for an empty net insurance marker to give StFX the 3-1 win.

Morgan Clark picked up the win in nets for the X-Men with 17 saves.

StFX outshot the Tommies by a 31-18 margin.

St. Thomas is back in action Wednesday when they face the UNB Varsity Reds at the Aitken University Centre.

The X-Men, who improved to 16-7-1, return to the ice Friday, January 30th, when they will have a rematch with the Tommies at the Keating Centre in Antigonish.

With four AUS regular season games remaining on the schedule, the X-Men currently sit tied for third place overall with Saint Mary's as they each have 33 points apiece. UNB and Acadia are tied for first with 38 points each.
