The X-Men wrapped up pre-season exhibition play with a 2-0 shutout victory over the CIS ranked No. 8 Saint Mary's Huskies Friday evening at the RATH EastLink Community Centre in Truro, N.S.

Drew Owsley earned the win in nets for the X-Men with Blake Gal and Jarrad Struthers the StFX goal scorers.

The X-Men outshot the Huskies by a 31-27 margin.

With the win the X-Men finish with a 4-3 pre-season record heading into AUS regular season play on October 18th and 19th.

StFX head coach Brad Peddle comments, "It was a good win against a tough opponent to finish off the pre-season. Defensively we were pretty sound and Drew made key saves when called upon."

"Overall we had a good pre-season with some great competition where we focused on improving each game as we gear up for the regular season," Peddle continued.

"We saw some encouraging signs and now must carry those forward to regular season play and commit to playing to our systems with a strong work ethic each and every night. The conference will be as tough as ever and we look forward to getting going."

The X-Men open the regular season on the road in New Brunswick as they will play the CIS ranked No. 2 and defending national champion UNB Varsity Reds on October 18th and Moncton Aigles Bleus on October 19th.

In Friday's game action, freshman forward scored a power play goal midway through the first period, with assists coming from Jarrad Struthers and Josh Day. Struthers then replied at 5:08 of the second period to give the X-Men their two-goal advantage. R.D. Chisholm and Cole Grbavac had the helpers.
