Hockey X-Men improve pre-season record

The X-Men hockey team improved their pre-season record to 3-1 with a 4-2 victory over the Aigles Bleus de Moncton Thursday evening in Shediac, N.B.

Drew Owsley and Morgan Clark split the time in the StFX net as the Aigles Bleus outshot the X-Men by a 40-36 margin. Adrien Lemay took the loss for Moncton who found themselves down 2-1 after the opening period of play.

Michael Kirkpatrick led the X-Men with two goals on the night, scoring his first just 1:09 into the game. R.D. Chisholm followed up with the other first period goal at 7:49.

The Aigles Bleus got on the board with only nine seconds remaining in the first period as Pier-Antoine Dion scored a power play marker.

StFX increased their lead to 4-1 after 40 minutes of play as Kirpatrick scored his second goal at 2:58 of the second period.
Bronson Maschmeyer put away a shorthanded marker to round out the scoring for the X-Men.
Simon Belliveau replied for Moncton with a third period goal.

The X-Men continue on the road for a pair of games against NCAA opponents in Boston. Saturday evening they will play Boston University, followed by a Sunday afternoon game against Boston College.

StFX will wind up pre-season play with a game in Truro, N. S. against Saint Mary's on October 11th.
