ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX men's hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce that Western Hockey League (WHL) forward Justin Feser has committed to the X-Men program this coming fall.

"We are extremely excited to add Justin to the X-Men hockey program," comments Coach Peddle. "He is a top recruit and a proven offensive player that had a very consistent WHL career with a strong Tri-City program."

"Justin is a dynamic player that can play in any situation and will make a big impact to our offence. He is a high character individual with great leadership skills, combined with a tremendous work ethic, evident by his current WHL Iron-Man title. He may still have some pro options available over the summer, but unless the right contract presents itself, he will be an outstanding addition to our hockey program and a great fit to our returning group."

The 5'9", 190 pound forward from Red Deer, Alta. played the last five seasons with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL. This past season he racked up 106 points (44 goals and 62 assists) in 72 games played, finishing fourth overall in WHL scoring. He followed up the regular season with two goals and three assists in Tri-City's five playoff games and earned the nod as the WHL western conference most valuable player.

A captain last year, the 20 year old Feser played in 414 career WHL games, collecting 173 goals and 230 assists for a career total of 403 points. He also posted a career plus/minus of +90 over his WHL career, and holds the WHL all-time 'Iron-Man' record holder for playing in 326 consecutive games.

"I am excited about joining the X Men hockey team and I look forward to contributing to the team's future success," comments Feser. "I also value the opportunities available with StFX's academic program and I look forward to the Atlantic Canada experience."

At the end of the 2012-13 WHL season, Justin was awarded an amateur tryout contract with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League (AHL), affiliate team for the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes, where he played six games and collected a pair of assists. He was a member of the silver medal winning Team Pacific at the 2008 World U17 hockey championship.

The announcement follows up on last week's commitment of OHL defenseman Nathan Chiarlitti to the X-Men program.
