X-Men Pounce Panthers

CIS No. 7 ranked X-Men hockey defeated the UPEI Panthers 4-1 this past Saturday night. X-Men currently have a 15-10-1 record.

X Jason Bast (7:48), assisted by Chris Hulit and Kevin Undershute, took an early lead for StFX scoring the lone goal in the first period.

Panthers Michael MacIsaac (2:26) scored a short handed goal to tie the game. X-Men’s R.D Chisholm (15:22) responded with a goal to take the lead. Assisted by Spencer McAvoy and Brett Morrison. On the power play X-Men’s Spencer McAvoy (18:51), assisted by Morrison and Hulit, extend the lead to 3-1.

In the third period the game became very chippie with both teams enjoying a seat in the penalty box. X-Men’s Brennen Wray (19:27), assisted by Jason Bast, scored an empty netter to seal the deal on the 4-1 win.

Final shots on net were 34-20 in X-Men’s favor. Joseph Perricone was awarded the win in nets for StFX while Panther’s Jhase Sniderman was tagged with the loss.

X-Men next see action this Friday and Saturday on the road. Friday night they take on Moncton and Saturday night face off against St. Thomas.
