The STFX Coach K Invitational, presented by Pizza Delight, is an annual four-team exhibition tournament hosted by the STFX X-Men every October. The tournament was renamed in 2021 to honour long-time veteran X-Men head coach Steve Konchalski who coached at STFX from 1975-2021.
The X-Men Invitational (as it was previously called) began in 1979 upon the initiation of Coach Konchalski and the STFX Athletic Director at the time, Father George Kehoe. The Invitational is one of the longest-running consecutive year men's basketball tournaments in U SPORTS, having been in existance for over 40 years. Ernie Foshay was a strong supporter of STFX Athletics and is a member of the the STFX Sports Hall of Fame as a former X-Men basketball and football athlete. After his passing in 1991, the tournament Most Valuable Player Award was renamed the Ernie Foshay Memorial Award in honor of Mr. Foshay. |
2023 StFX Coach K Invitational Schedule
Unfortunately due to ongoing construction within the Saputo Centre and scheduling conflicts, the STFX Coach K Invitational Tournament will not be played this fall. We will resume the tournament in 2024 (dates to be determinted).
