2000 CIAU National Champions

The 1999-2000 X-Men basketball team won the program’s second national championship with a memorable 61-60 victory over the Brandon Bobcats in the CIAU championship game at the Halifax Metro Centre. Led by Randy Nohr, the CIAU Tournament MVP, the X-Men staged a furious rally in the closing minutes of the final game, scoring the game’s final ten points to pull out the one point win in dramatic fashion.

The team was led by All-Canadian Fred Perry during the season and finished the year with a 28-7 overall record, 28-4 versus CIAU competition. Along the way to the national championship, the X-Men finished the AUAA regular season with a 16-4 record, averaging 84.5 points per game. The blue and white knocked off long-time rival Saint Mary’s 68-62 to win the AUAA conference championship.
