X-Men defeat Capers with 93-87 road victory

Sydney, NS – The Cape Breton Capers attempted a second-half comeback, but fell short as the StFX X-Men won a 93-87 game Saturday night at Sullivan Fieldhouse.

The Capers were led by Osman Omar who scored 31 points, and had 4 rebounds and 1 assist. Paul Watson contributed 16 points and 5 rebounds.

The X-Men used a strong first half to build an unsurmountable lead of 59-32 at halftime and were led by Tristen Ross with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Six of his 12 points were three-pointers.

The turning point in the game came when the X-Men broke open a close match with a 39-13 run in the second quarter that they were able to hang onto in the second half.

StFX's Daniel Passley had a game high 12 rebounds to go along with his 17 points and received Subway player of the game honours. Thomas Legallais had a game-high 10 assists.

With the win the X-Men improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Capers fall to 0-3.

Cape Breton is next in action when they host the UNB Reds on November 16th at the Sullivan Fieldhouse, tip-off is at 8:00 pm. The X-Men will travel to Dalhousie on Wednesday, November 14th to play the Tigers, also at 8:00 pm.
