X-Men win close exhibition game over Toronto

Montreal, QC – The StFX X-Men wrapped up an exhibition trip in Montreal with an 88-84 victory over the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday afternoon.

The X-Men held leads of 21-18 after the first quarter and 41-31 at halftime. The Varsity Blues fought back throughout the second half but the X-Men were able to maintain their lead for the win.

It was a close game all around as rebounds were 38-38 and turnovers were few aside at 10-10.

Kevin Bercy scored 15 points for X and added 8 rebounds, while Justin Andrew, off the bench, also netted 15 points and chipped in with 5 boards.

Davonte Provo scored 14 for the X-Men and Julius Antoine added 12.

Sage Usher had a big game for the Varsity Blues, scoring 28 points and adding 7 rebounds. Evan Shadkami scored 15 points and also had 7 rebounds.

The X-Men will be back in exhibition play on Friday night when they host the X-Men Invitational tournament at StFX Oland Centre. At 6:00 pm Cape Breton and Dalhousie will play, followed by the X-Men and UPEI Panthers at 8:00 pm. The winners will advance to Saturday's final at 8pm with the losers playing in the consolation final Saturday at 6:00.
