Hoop X-Men defeat UQAM in pre-season play

Montreal, QC – The StFX X-Men played to a 79-75 win over the Université du Québec à Montréal Citadins in pre-season exhibition play Friday night.

The pace of play bounced back and forth throughout the course of the games as the X-Men got out to a 27-15 lead after the first quarter, but the Citadens closed the gap in the second quarter. StFX were up 41-35 at half.

The Citadins made a charge in the final quarter of play but the X-Men were able to hang on for the win over their RSEQ opponent.

Reigning AUS most valuable player Kevin Bercy led the X-Men with a double-double performance of 24 points and 10 rebounds on the night.

Davonte Provo scored 13 and had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals, while Justin Andrews added 11 points off the X-Men bench. StFX shot 49.2% from field-goal range.

Charles Miller was the top point-getter for the Citadins with 18 points.

The X-Men move on for another exhibition match-up, this time they will face the McGill Redmen. Tip-off is slated for Saturday at 7:00 pm EST.
