X-Men drop close game to Sea-Hawks

St. John's, NF – The Memorial Sea-Hawks (8-5) played to an 86-83 victory over the StFX X-Men (7-5) on Saturday night.  

The Sea-Hawks Chris Dobbin clinched the victory by blocking Julius Antoine's three-point shot attempt with less than five seconds on the clock, hanging on for the narrow three-point margin of victory.

Four of the Sea-Hawks starting five players finished in double scoring figures with Austin Chambers leading the way with 21 points. Greg Manuel filled in for leading scorer Vasilije Curcic (out due to suspension), dropping 18 points and scooping up nine boards. Davion Parnsalu scored 19 points while Jacob Hynes contributed 13.

Kevin Bercy lead the way for the X-Men with a game-high 23 points and a whopping 18 rebounds. Tristen Ross scored 18 points off the bench for the X-Men, including five from three-point range.

Julius Antoine scored 15 points and had five rebounds, Akil Charles scored 12 and Justin Andrews scored 11 and dished five assists for the X-Men.

The X-Men and Sea-Hawks now find themselves in a tie for second place in the AUS conference with 22 points apiece, two back of first place UNB.

They will meet again tomorrow in AUS action at 2:00 pm NST at the Memorial Field House.
