Ravens dominate opponents at Aberdeen Challenge

WOLFVILLE, N.S. - The CIS reigning champions are 9-0 in preseason play with a 3-0 sweep of CIS opponents at the Stu Aberdeen Challenge. The Carleton Ravens picked up a 116-72 win over the StFX X-Men who entered the game with two wins under their belt against Acadia and Laval.

The Ravens demonstrated why they have won 12 out of the last 14 CIS national titles.

They were great form in the first half of the game, making 86.7% of free throws and 57.1% of three point shots.

Subway player of the game and tournament all-star Connor Wood (Guelph, Ont.) led Carleton in the first half, finishing with five rebounds, four assists, and 20 points overall. Kaza Kajami-Keane (Ajax, Ont.) also had another strong game, with five assists and 14 points, helping to earn him Most Valuable Player of the Challenge.

The X-Men fought back in the second half of the game, but weren't able to catch the Raven's 26-point halftime lead. StFX standout Kevin Bercy (Kanata, Ont.) continued his scoring prominence, leading the X-Men in points 15 points, as well as six rebounds, earning himself Subway Player of the Game and recognition as a tournament all star.

Challenge All-Star Cameron Walker (Dallas, Texas) contributed to the effort with eight points and four rebounds, as did Akil Charles (Glenn Dale, Maryland), with a three assist, nine points total.

The Carleton Ravens maintained their dominance throughout the weekend, outscoring opponents 313-196 in three games.
