Saint Mary's Coward and StFX's Bercy named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Rachelle Coward of the Saint Mary's Huskies women's basketball team and Kevin Bercy of the StFX X-Men basketball team have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Rachelle Coward of the CIS No. 4-ranked Saint Mary's Huskies women's basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 7, 2016.

A criminology student in her fifth year of eligibility from Dartmouth, N.S., Coward played a key part in two weekend wins at home for the Huskies over the UNB Varsity Reds.

In Friday evening's 75-48 victory, the 6-foot-0 guard posted a game-high 24 points to go along with three assists, two rebounds, a steal and a block.

Saint Mary's then topped UNB 68-61 Saturday evening. Coward led the Huskies with 13 points and also added two assists and a rebound.

Kevin Bercy of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 7, 2016.

A third-year business student from Kanata, Ont., Bercy led the X-Men to two weekend wins at home versus the UPEI Panthers, snapping an eight-game StFX losing streak.

In Friday night's 88-85 win, the 6-foot-6 forward posted a double-double with 21 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, along with four assists and two steals. He was named Subway Player of the Game for his efforts.

The X-Men went on to top the Panthers 96-90 Saturday night as Bercy managed his second double-double of the weekend. He scored a game-high 33 points and 13 rebounds and also added two blocks and an assist.
