X-Men fall to York Lions in exhibition action

Toronto, ON – The X-Men basketball team dropped a 106-96 decision to the York Lions in pre-season exhibition play in Ontario Friday night.

After leading for 37 minutes, the X-Men let the game slip away from them down the stretch as the Lions outscored the visitors 40-20 in the fourth quarter.

The X-Men held a 21-15 advantage after the first quarter and were up 49-44 at halftime.

Kevin Bercy (Kanata, ON) had a double-double night for the X-Men, scoring a game-high 23 points and hauling in 16 rebounds. Davonte Provo (East Preston, NS) scored 16 points and had 4 rebounds and 6 assists.

Cameron Walker (Dallas, TX) and freshman guard Tyrel Edwards (Toronto, ON) each scored 14 points apiece for the X-Men. Walker also had six boards. Tristen Ross (Truro, NS) contributed 13 points.    

Leading the Lions in scoring were Raheem Isaac and Daniel Tulloch who each scored 21 points. Shane Reader scored 15 points and had 4 rebounds. Nathan Culbreath had 14 points and 8 boards.

The X-Men will wrap up their exhibition tour with a game Saturday afternoon against the Guelph Gryphons. Tip-off is 2:00 pm EST.
