(Halifax, NS) - The Dalhousie Tigers snapped a two-game losing streak with an emphatic 72-48 victory over the StFX X-Men Tuesday night at the Dalplex.

The four-point win puts the Tigers (6-3) back into first place in the AUS with 18 points, while StFX sits in sixth place with a 3-7 record.

Sven Stammberger was named the Subway Player of the Game after he led the Tigers with a career-high 19 points on 5-9 shooting from downtown. He also added five boards and chipped in on the defensive end of the floor with four steals.

Jarred Reid also came up big for the Tigers, dropping 17 points to go along with six rebounds, six steals and five assists.

Cameron Walker had a team-high 10 points and eight rebounds in the loss for the X-Men, while Jordan Tyrell added nine points. Cassio Rodrigues was named the Subway Player of the Game for the X-Men.

The Tigers jumped out to a 9-0 run in the first quarter but the X-Men came storming back with a 9-0 run of their own to tie the game at nine apiece. They battled back and forth for the rest of the quarter but a three-pointer from Sean Dodds in the dying second of the quarter gave the Tigers a 19-16 lead after the opening ten minutes.

The Tigers opened up a double-digit lead 1:34 into the second quarter after Stammberger nailed a tough three to make it a 28-18 game. StFX's Walker would trim the lead to six points with 18 seconds left in the quarter, but Jarred Reid was fouled with just three seconds left and he made both of his shots from the charity stripe to make it a 39-31 Tigers advantage at halftime.

Dalhousie led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter as they began to dominate the X-Men on both ends of the court, limiting them to 11 points in the quarter as they led 56-42 going into the final frame.

The fourth quarter was all Tigers as their '40 minutes of hell' defense completely shut down Coach Konchalski's X-Men squad, limiting them to just six points on 3-12 shooting as the Tigers cruised to a 72-48 victory.

The Tigers will be back on the court when they travel to face the UNB Varsity Reds on Saturday, while the X-Men will head to Sydney next Tuesday to take on the Cape Breton Capers.
