Huskies handle X-Men 105-76

The CIS No. 8 ranked Saint Mary's Huskies ran out to a 26-16 first quarter lead Wednesday evening in AUS men's basketball action in Halifax and never looked back, defeating the StFX X-Men 105-76.

Theon Reefer led the Huskies with 22 points and added five rebounds as Saint Mary's built up a commanding 54-29 lead at halftime.

Jeremy McAvoy scored 18 points off the bench for the Huskies, while Marquis Clayton scored 16 points for SMU and contributed six assists.

Kadeem Scott added 11 points.

Saint Mary's outscored the X-Men 51-47 in a closer second half.

Julius Antoine netted 11 points for the X-Men and Rod Madera scored 10 points and led StFX with seven rebounds.

Jordan Clarke added nine points for StFX.

With the loss the X-Men fall to 1-2 on the season while the Huskies improve to 3-0.

The same two squads will play again on Saturday afternoon in Antigonish. Game time is 4:00 pm at the StFX Oland Centre.
