X-Men basketball center Rodrigo Madera is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Rodrigo recently completed his third year with the X-Men and is a Business student from Santo Domingo, DR.

What brought you to StFX?
Basketball was the only reason I came to StFX before I came here from the Dominican Republic. I didn't know anything about the X-Ring, the University or the town of Antigonish.

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far?
Best moment so far was winning the CIS bronze medal game in the 2011-12 season.

One thing I cannot live without is…?
My family, they are doing all they can to help me stay here, get a degree and have a successful career.

If I could have super-hero powers I would…?
Teleportation, that way I can be home in Dominican every time I am free. Who wouldn't want to be in a place its 20-40 degrees all year?

My biggest pet peeve is…?
People that lie

My dream vacation destination is…?
Either Italy or Greece, I have always wanted to go to those places.

My dream job is…?
Being the CEO of a company and the only thing I would have to do is sign the cheques and live the good life :)

Tell us one thing that fans may not know about you?
Well, not a lot of people know about this one but I had heart surgery in 2003 (I have a stent in the aorta).
