(HALIFAX, N.S.) – Atlantic University Sport is pleased to announce the 2013-14 men's and women's regular season basketball schedules. Both seasons are set to begin on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The men's and women's format will once again see teams compete in a single division where they will each play a total of 20 regular season games. Following the regular season, the top six teams will qualify for post-season play.
The winning team from each AUS championship will advance to the respective CIS championship.

MEN
All eight AUS men's basketball teams will see action during the opening week of regular-season play.
On opening night, Wednesday, Nov. 6, the reigning AUS champion Cape Breton Capers will travel to Antigonish to face the StFX X-Men in an 8 p.m. start at the Oland Centre.
Cape Breton will in turn host the X-Men three days later during their first home game of the season, when they will raise their AUS championship banner at the Sullivan Field House in Sydney.
The Acadia Axemen, who finished fourth in the 2013 CIS Final 8 championship, will open their regular season schedule on the road as they head to Charlottetown to take on the UPEI Panthers in the season opener for both squads, Friday, Nov. 8.
The Axemen, who were ranked in the CIS Top 10 every week of the 2012-13 season, will then host the Dalhousie Tigers in their first home game of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
Other opening weekend match-ups will see the Saint Mary's Huskies travel to Memorial for a pair of games against the Sea-Hawks, while the UNB Varsity Reds head to Halifax to take on the Dalhousie Tigers and newly appointed head coach Rick Plato.
The 2013-14 regular season concludes on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The 2014 Subway AUS Men's Basketball Championship will once again be hosted at the Halifax Metro Centre from Friday, Feb. 28 to Sunday, March 2.
The winner of the six-team tournament will earn the AUS banner and a berth in the 2014 CIS Final 8 championship which will be hosted once again by Carleton University in Ottawa, Ont., from March 7 to 9.
WOMEN
The 2013-14 AUS women's basketball schedule will once again run parallel to the men's schedule, and will also kick off on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with the StFX X-Women hosting the Cape Breton Capers at 6 p.m. in the Oland Centre.
The X-Women finished the 2012-13 season in second place with a 13-7 record before losing to Saint Mary's in the final of the 2013 Subway AUS women's basketball championship.
The Saint Mary's Huskies, last year's AUS champions and CIS bronze medalists, will open their season in St. John's, Nfld., as they take on the Memorial Sea-Hawks for two games on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 10.
The Huskies and reigning CIS player of the year Justine Colley will raise their 2012-13 AUS championship banner on Wednesday, Nov. 10 in their first home game of the season when they host the StFX X-Women in a rematch of the 2012-13 AUS final. The Huskies were a perfect 11-0 at home last season.
The Acadia Axewomen, 14-6 in regular season play last year, will open their season with back-to-back games at UPEI on Nov. 8 and Nov. 9.
In the other opening weekend match-up, the Dalhousie Tigers will host the UNB Varsity Reds for a pair of games in Halifax. The Tigers are coming off a 10-10 season while the V-Reds will be looking to improve on their 2-18 record from a year ago.
The women's 2013-14 regular season also concludes on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The 2014 Subway AUS Women's Basketball Championship will be hosted by UPEI from March 7 to 9. The format will mirror the men's with the AUS champion advancing to the CIS Final 8 championship. This year's women's national championship will be hosted by the University of Windsor, March 14 to 16.
