AUS team claims top honors at 2015 Kehoe Golf Classic

The 22nd annual Father Kehoe Golf Classic, presented by the X Varsity Club, took place Friday afternoon, July 17th at the Antigonish Golf & Country Club. Twenty-five teams and approximately 100 golfers participated in the four-person scramble, which honors the legacy of StFX alumnus and former athlete, coach and Athletic Director Father George Kehoe, in addition to raising funds for scholarships for StFX student-athletes.

The Atlantic University Sport team with members from Antigonish and Halifax took home top low gross honors (57) as the tournament champions, winners of the MacDonald Chisholm Insurance Trophy. The team consisted of Ron JJ MacDonald, Scott MacInnis, Felix Sampson and Anthony Borden. The tournament runner up (59) was the BMO Nesbitt-Burns team from Antigonish, whose team members included Marc Champoux, Craig MacDonald, Jamie Pyke and Jake MacKinnon.

The recipients of the Irene McFarland Memorial trophy for the top low net score (45) in the tournament was Robert Proctor’s team from Antigonish, consisting of Proctor, Cody Reeves, Matthew Girard and Kyler Bell.  The Labatt team from Antigonish took home second low net honors (47.5) with team members consisting of Patrick O’Connell, Mike Cavanagh, Brad Peddle, Michael Clarke and Blake Gal.
