2016 AUS fall sports schedules released

In women’s rugby, the StFX X-Women will host the Saint Mary’s Huskies on opening night, Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. The following day at 2 p.m., the defending AUS champion Acadia Axewomen will visit the UPEI Panthers in their home opener in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

The Huskies and the Axewomen will play their own home openers the following weekend. Acadia will host StFX in a rematch of the 2015 Subway AUS Rugby Championship final on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. Saint Mary’s will then host UPEI Sunday at 2 p.m.

The 2016 Subway AUS Rugby Championship will once again feature a three-team playoff format. The team that finishes third in the regular season standings will visit the second-place team in Week 7, with the winner moving on to visit the first-place team the following weekend in the championship final game.

The AUS champion will then advance to the 2016 CIS women’s rugby championship being hosted Nov. 3 to 6 by the University of Victoria in British Columbia.

All 10 AUS men’s and women’s soccer teams will see action on opening weekend Sept. 9 to 11.

The defending champion Cape Breton Capers women’s team will host the UNB Varsity Reds in their home and season opener on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.

The three-time reigning men’s soccer champion UNB Varsity Reds will open their season with two away games in Week 1, visiting the Cape Breton Capers Saturday, Sept. 10 at 3:15 p.m. and the StFX X-Men Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3:15 p.m. Their home opener will take place the following weekend when they host the Memorial Sea-Hawks Saturday, Sept. 17, also at 3:15 p.m.

This season’s Subway AUS men’s and women’s soccer championships will be hosted Nov. 3-6 by the University of New Brunswick and Cape Breton University, respectively. Guelph University will host the CIS men’s soccer championship the following weekend, Nov. 10-13, while the CIS women’s soccer championship will be hosted by Acadia University.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams will open up their season with an invitational meet Saturday, Sept. 17, being hosted by Acadia. Université de Moncton will play host to the second meet Sept. 24, while the third invitational meet will be co-hosted by Dalhousie and Saint Mary’s Saturday, Oct. 8.

UNB and St. Thomas will then co-host an AUS-RSEQ invitational meet Saturday, Oct. 15.

StFX will play host this season to the 2016 Subway AUS Cross Country Championship Oct. 29 in Antigonish, N.S.

Université Laval will host the 2016 CIS cross country championships Saturday, Nov. 12 in
