Jenna Downey of the St. Francis Xavier X-Women’s rugby and hockey teams is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 19, 2014.
A first-year education student in her fifth year of eligibility, the dual sport student-athlete is currently playing in her fifth year as a defender with the women’s hockey team and in her first season as a centre with the X-Women’s rugby team.
The Stratford, Ont. native scored StFX’s only goal in their 2-1 loss to UPEI Friday night. She then contributed a goal and an assist in the X-Women’s 4-2 victory over the Moncton Aigles Bleues Saturday.
Making the switch to rugby Sunday, Downey contributed a try in StFX’s 115-0 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies.

Matt Boudens of the University of New Brunswick men’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 19, 2014.
A first-year kinesiology student from Pembroke, Ont., Boudens posted a total of six points in two weekend wins this past weekend.
In Friday’s 6-3 win over Dalhousie, the Varsity Reds forward posted a goal in both the first and second period and was named third star of the game.
In UNB’s 5-2 victory over the StFX X-Men on Saturday, Boudens scored the game’s first goal in the first period and followed this up with three assists over the remainder of the game.
