ANTIGONISH, NS – Manager of Varsity Athletics & Communications Krista McKenna is pleased to announce the appointment of Leah Bond as the new Marketing & Events Coordinator for StFX Athletics.
“We are very excited to have Leah Bond join our Athletics team in this role,” comments McKenna. “Leah is very familiar with StFX Athletics, having past experience with our event management operations, and we have full confidence in her abilities to embrace this position. She is very passionate about StFX Athletics and will be a great asset in not only enhancing our athletics brand, but enhancing the experience for students and fans at our varsity events.”
Bond is equally pleased to be joining the Athletics team, stating, “I am very excited and grateful to be given this opportunity to join the Athletic department. I am looking forward to contributing to the department in a more extensive capacity and intend to bring new ideas and approaches to the table with the goal of enhancing the overall game day atmosphere and experience for all varsity sports.”
She continues, “My familiarity with the department and previous experience with varsity sport event management here at StFX will allow for a smooth transition and enable me to begin planning and marketing for the upcoming varsity season right away.”
Bond joins the Athletic Department after several years of working at the university in various capacities, most recently with the Recruitment & Admissions department and at the Charles V. Keating Centre box office and conference services. She has been a member of the StFX Athletics event management team for the past nine years, gaining experience in the areas of sport coordination, staff scheduling and supervision, social media and marketing.
A 2013 StFX graduate, Leah is a native of Antigonish, N.S. who grew up with a strong sporting background. She has lent her time volunteering at various events over the years including the StFX Father Kehoe Golf Classic and Bonvie-MacDonald Rinks to Links, and most recently at the CIS men’s hockey championship. Leah will officially begin her full-time Marketing & Events position with StFX Athletics on May 25th.
