Pita Pit X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men quarterback Silas Fagnan was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 23, 2022. Silas, a fourth year Arts student from Bonnyville, Alta. was 22 for 28 in passing in the X-Men's 52-4 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday, throwing 295 total yards. He had a long reception of 39 yards and threw two touchdown passes, along with rushing four times for 23 yards. Silas currently leads the AUS conference in passing, averaging 232.9 yards/game, and has 11 touchdown receptions on the season.
Pita Pit X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men defensive lineman Zechariah Willems was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 23, 2022. Zech, a second year Arts student from Tiny, Ont. had five solo tackles in the X-Men's 52-4 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday. He also came up big with three sacks for a total loss of 21 yards. Zechariah currently has 23.5 tackles on the season, including 18 solo tackles, and he is second overall in the AUS in sacks with six.
Pita Pit X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men linebacker Zach Taylor was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 23, 2022. Zach, a third year Human Kinetics student from Nanaimo, BC, provided outstanding blocking on both punt return and kickoff return in the X-Men's 52-4 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday, in addition to great coverage on kickoffs. He had two solo tackles in the game, along with a forced fumble and a blocked punt. Zach had one punt return for 14 yards and on defense returned an interception for 20 yards.
