Pita Pit X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men receiver Devaughn Blackwood was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18, 2022. Devaughn, a third year Business student from Kanata, ON scored a 39-yard touchdown reception in the X-Men's 21-16 win over Bishop's Saturday afternoon. His touchdown came early in the second quarter to give the X-Men a key 10-0 lead at that point in the game. Devaughn had 3 receptions for 60 yards in the win, and is currently averaging 37.7 receiving yards per game, good for fifth overall in the AUS.
Pita Pit X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men defensive back Thomas Bentley was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18, 2022. Thomas, a fourth year Human Kinetics student from Dartmouth, NS made several key plays and was solid on the X-Men defense in their 21-16 win over Bishop's Saturday afternoon. He had two solo tackles in the game, one break-up, and had a timely interception for X in the third quarter. Thomas is currently averaging 3.5 tackles per game.
Pita Pit X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men kicker/punter Ben Hadley was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18, 2022. Ben, a third year Business student from Halifax, NS kicked four field goals and one extra point, contributing 13 points in the X-Men's 21-16 victory over Bishop's Saturday. His field goals came from 17, 39, 47 and 38 yards out, all in the first half to give STFX a 19-1 halftime lead. Ben also had 8 punts in the game for 290 yards and 3 kick-offs for 185 total yards as the X-Men improved to 3-0 on the season, tied for first place.
