Antigonish, NS— X-Men football head coach Gary Waterman is pleased to announce the addition of defensive back coach Micah Brown to the StFX coaching staff.

"At StFX it starts with finding the right people, and after spending time with Micah Brown it is clear that he is a great fit for our program," comments Coach Waterman. "Micah is a positive, energetic and enthusiastic person. He is passionate about football and is a tireless worker."

"Micah will be working with our defensive backs and I truly believe that his extensive knowledge on the offensive side of the ball will benefit them greatly," he continues. "I am thrilled to add Micah to our staff."

Coach Brown is a Florida native who comes to StFX via Halifax, having played and coached in multiple levels of football both professionally and collegiately, including stints in Europe, Canada and Arena Football, along with the NCAA and U SPORTS. A former quarterback and AUS Loney Bowl champion with the Saint Mary's Huskies, Brown began his coaching career as the offensive coordinator as a player/coach in Europe where he has competed for the past 11 seasons.

Brown was inducted into the Touchdown Europe Hall of Fame for winning eight championships, and was the first quarterback to win two major national championships in the same season. He has seven national titles (in five different countries), two state titles and he earned a world championship title with the U.S. national team in 2011. Brown has also worked with the national teams of Germany and Finland and is still heavily involved in the European football community.

In between his travels, he made time to coordinate the offense for Lockview High School in Halifax where they won their first ever provincial championship. Most recently Brown has coached with Auburn Drive High School, helping them to secure their first ever playoff berth.

Earning three degrees and learning various languages along the way, Coach Brown mentors and guides football prospects through his football-specific developmental company, BATLX (Brown Athletix).

X-Men defensive coordinator Jon Svec is very much looking forward to working with Brown this upcoming AUS season. "His passion for the game of football is evident, and he is sure to be a positive addition to our defensive staff. Also, his background and knowledge of the offensive passing game will be a great resource for our guys in the secondary. I am extremely excited to have Micah on board."

Brown is excited to be joining the X-Men coaching staff, staying "I am grateful and truly honored for the opportunity to contribute and share my passion with such a prestigious university, storied football program and family oriented community. I am extremely excited to work with our coaching staff and am looking forward to meeting the players, as well as continuing to build upon what they have been doing while exceling to the next level by exceeding our goals as a program."
