Five X-Men honored as StFX football athletes of the week

StFX Offensive Athlete of the Week (three-way tie)
X-Men running back Jordan Socholotiuk was named co-winner of the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2016. Jordan, a third year Human Kinetics from Fort McMurray, AB scored an 82 yard touchdown in the X-Men's 65-17 win over Mount A on Saturday. He had 15 carries for 131 yards in the game and in doing so surpassed 1000 rushing yards on the season (1056), becoming only the third X-Men in team history to reach that milestone. Jordan led the AUS conference in rushing yards (1056), rushes (163) and rushing average (132.0) this season.

X-Men quarterback Tivon Cook was named co-winner of the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2016. Tivon, a 5th year Arts student from Scarborough, ON, broke several StFX records in the X-Men's 65-17 win over Mount A on Saturday. His 6 touchdown passes tied a StFX record for most TD's in a game as he was 22 for 27. He also broke the X-Men record for most passing yards in a single season (2537), most career passing attempts (871), most career passing completions (536) and most career passing yards (6943). Tivon lead the AUS conference in all passing categories this season including completions (174), attempts (251), average (317.1), total yards (2537) and touchdowns (21).

X-Men receiver Dejaun Martin was named co-winner of the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2016. Dejaun, a second year Business student from Scraborough, ON scored two touchdowns in the X-Men's 65-17 win over Mount A on Saturday, hauling in 40 yard and 41 TD passes. He had 7 receptions for 159 yards in the game and also returned one kick-off for 23 yards. Dejaun broke the X-Men record for most receptions in a single season, finishing with 52, tops in the AUS. He also led the conference in receptions/game (6.5) and was second in yards/game (94.3) and total receiving yards (754).

StFX Defensive Athlete of the Week
X-Men linebacker Kadel King was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2016. Kadel, a first year Business student from London, England played a strong game on defense in the X-Men's 65-17 victory over Mount A on Saturday. Kadel led all X-Men tacklers in the game with seven, all solo tackles, including four on special teams. Kadel wrapped up the AUS season with 37 total tackles (27 solo & 20 assisted), averaging 6.2 tackles/game.

StFX Special Teams Athlete of the Week
X-Men defensive back Mike Miller was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30, 2016. Mike, a second year Arts student from Ottawa, ON played a very strong game on both special teams coverage and return teams coverage in the X-Men's 65-17 win over Mount A on Saturday. His tenacious tackling and relentless blocking resulted in five solo tackles in the game and 1 assisted tackle. Mike closed out the AUS season with 29 total tackles (25 solo & 8 assisted), averaging 3.6 tackles/game.
