Grant, Okafor and Nugent receive football athlete of the week honors

X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men receiver Kaion Grant was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 16, 2016. Kaion, a 2nd year Human Kinetics from Toronto, ON scored two touchdowns and was named Player of the Game in the X-Men's 45-6 win over SMU. He had 80 and 65 yard TD catches in the second quarter and five receptions on the afternoon for 230 total yards. Kaion also had two kick-off returns (44 yds) and four punt returns (35 yds). He currently leads the AUS conference in receiving, averaging 122.2 yards/game, 23.5 yards/rec and 611 total yards. He is first in AUS all-purpose yards with 1090 and 218.0 yards/game.

X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men defensive lineman Kay Okafor was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 16, 2016. Kay, a 4th year Business student from Enugu, Nigeria played a dominant game on defense for the X-Men in their 45-6 win over SMU. Kay had four sacks in the game for a total loss of 38 yards, along with six solo tackles. He is currently third overall in AUS sacks this season with 4.5 and has 12 total tackles (nine solo and six assisted).

X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men returner Greg Nugent was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 16, 2016. Greg, a 2nd year Arts student from London, ON was a dominant leader on special teams in the X-Men's 45-6 win over SMU. Leading by his physicality and intensity, Greg was a key player in that he played five different special teams positions. He covered kicks, blocked returns, then had to move to returning due to injuries where he had 3 punt returns for 6 yards.
