Tabor, Omara and Ford named X-Men football athletes of the week

X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week

X-Men wide receiver Donald Tabor was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 2, 2014. Donald, a fourth year Business student from Dartmouth, NS, scored a touchdown with 45 seconds left in the game to pull the X-Men to within 2 points of Acadia. After making the 10 yard catch, Donald stayed in bounds and dove into the corner of the end zone for the score. The X-Men eventually won the AUS semifinal game 18-17, advancing to the AUS Loney Bowl championship. Donald led all receivers in the playoff game with 10 catches for 126 total yards, averaging 12.6 yards/reception. He finished the AUS season sixth overall in receiving with 45.8 yards/per game on 29 total receptions for 366 yards.

X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week

X-Men linebacker Ron Omara was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 2, 2014. Ron, a fourth year Arts student from Alymer, QC led all StFX defenders in tackles in their dramatic 18-17 victory over Acadia in Saturday's AUS semifinal playoff game. Ron had 12 tackles in the game (3 solo and 12 assisted), along with 1 forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He finished the season 7th overall in AUS tackling with 36.5 total tackles. 

X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week

X-Men kicker/punter Jeremy Ford was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 2, 2014. Jeremy, a fourth year Science student from Halifax, NS kicked the game-winning field goal (36 yards) with 7 seconds left to play to give the X-Men a dramatic come-from behind 18-17 victory over Acadia Saturday in the AUS semifinal playoff game. The win advances the X-Men to the AUS Loney Bowl championship next weekend. The Subway player of the game, Jeremy also kicked two field goals from 22 and 36 yards, along with 9 punts for 244 total yards, averaging 27.1 yards/punt.
