X-Men fare well at CFL combine

Five StFX X-Men recently participated in CFL combine events. Wide receiver Devon Bailey and offensive lineman Terry Hart attended the national CFL combine in Toronto as a contingent of 40 of the top players eligible for the upcoming CFL draft, while defensive backs Charlton Elliott and Demetrius Ferguson and defensive lineman Samni Adereti attended the Montreal regional combine.

The combines are for players eligible for the 2014 CFL Draft which is coming up May 13th.

Devon Bailey, a fourth year wide receiver from Mississauga, Ont. entered the national combine ranked fourth overall in the country leading into the draft. He placed fourth overall and first amongst wide receivers in the shuttle with a time of 4.19 seconds. He was second amongst all wide receivers in the broad jump (10'0.00") and was fourth amongst wide receivers in the bench press (15 reps), 40 yard dash (4.623 seconds), vertical jump (32.50"). He did not complete the 3-cone drill.

Fourth year offensive lineman Terry Hart from Barrie, Ont. tied for second overall in the bench press with 32 reps. Amongst all the offensive lineman, Hart was fourth in the 40 yard dash (5.420 seconds), fifth in the vertical jump (21.50") and shuttle (5.14 seconds), and sixth in the broad jump (7'2.00") and 3-cone drill (8.41 seconds).

At the Montreal regional combine, fourth year defensive back Charlton Elliott from Pickering, Ont. fared well in the 40 yard dash, placing fourth overall and second amongst defensive backs with a 4.76 result. He also placed fourth amongst the DB's in the 3-cone drill (7.30 seconds) and broad jump (9'11.00"). Elliott was fifth in the bench press (15 reps) and shuttle (4.41 seconds), and seventh in the vertical jump (34.50").

Fellow X-Men defensive back Demetrius Ferguson, in his fifth year from Nassau, Bahamas, was sixth amongst all DB's in the 40 yard dash (4.84 seconds) and vertical jump (35.00"), seventh in the broad jump (9'3.50"), eighth in the 3-cone drill (7.40 seconds), ninth in the bench press (9 reps) and tenth in the shuttle (4.66 seconds).

Fifth year StFX defensive lineman Samni Adereti from Brampton, Ont. was fourth overall and second amongst defensive lineman in the broad jump with a 10'3.00" result. He was first amongst defensive lineman in the 40 yard dash with a time of 4.95 seconds, third in both the vertical jump (31.50"0 and shuttle (4.57 seconds) and fourth in the bench press (15 reps) and 3-cone drill (7.70 seconds).
