Atlantic University Sport and Eastlink TV announce 2013 football broadcast schedule
Seven regular and two post-season AUS games to be broadcast Saturdays on Eastlink TV

August 7, 2013 (HALIFAX, N.S.) - Atlantic University Sport and Eastlink TV are pleased to announce the 2013 football broadcast schedule, which will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.

Nine AUS football games in total will be shown live and in high definition. Seven regular season games will air each Saturday throughout September and October, with the exception of Saturday, Sept. 21. These will be followed by the Nov. 2 showing of the AUS semifinal and the Nov. 9 broadcast of the Subway AUS Loney Bowl championship game.

"Atlantic University Sport and Eastlink TV continue to strengthen our ongoing partnership," says AUS executive Director, Phil Currie. "Thanks to Eastlink TV, our fans will once again be able to enjoy a high-definition broadcast of high-calibre local amateur sport from the comforts of their living rooms each Saturday. Year after year, Eastlink has shown an unwavering commitment to elevating the profile of local sports in the Maritimes and we are thrilled to have them on board once again."

The Mount Allison Mounties led by head coach Kelly Jeffrey will visit Gary Waterman and his StFX X-Men during the first broadcast of the season, Saturday, Sept. 7 in Antigonish, N.S. The following weekend, the Mounties' own first home game of the season will air from Sackville, N.B. In RSEQ interlock action, the Mounties will take on the McGill Redmen Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. during Mount Allison's homecoming weekend where they will also be retiring the number five jersey of former star running back Eric Lapointe. In 2012, Lapointe became just the second player elected into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame on the basis of his university/college career.

The 2013 broadcast schedule will also include the Saint Mary's Huskies' homecoming game Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. They will take on the defending champion Acadia Axemen in a rematch of last year's Subway AUS Loney Bowl. The Axemen's own homecoming game will air Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. as they take on the StFX X-Men.

The game to be broadcast Oct. 26, during the final week of regular-season play is being labeled a 'flex' game, where Eastlink will have the option to air either contest that Saturday. It will be contingent upon which of the two games has greater playoff implications.

"Our sports fans across Atlantic Canada will have plenty to cheer about with this year's AUS Football Saturdays on Eastlink TV," said Eastlink TV's vice president Michael Smith. "We're very excited to partner with Atlantic University Sport to once again deliver live, local university sports coverage in high definition on the Maritimes' number one sports channel, Eastlink TV HD, channel 610."

The AUS post-season will begin on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m., when the second-place team hosts the semifinal game. The winner will advance to the 2013 Subway AUS Loney Bowl which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m.

The Atlantic conference champion will then host the RSEQ champion Nov. 16 on their own campus in the 2013 Uteck Bowl. The Uteck Bowl and Mitchell Bowl winners will advance to play each other in the 49th Vanier Cup hosted by Laval University in Quebec City on Saturday, Nov. 23.

The on-air team of Dan Robertson and John MacNeil will return once again to provide the play-by-play and colour commentary for the tenth consecutive season, while Cecil Wright will patrol the sidelines to provide in-game interviews.

Don't miss the exciting season on Eastlink TV, live on Channel  610 and Eastlink To Go, and OnDemand, beginning Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
