X ATHLETICS in the COMMUNITY

Service to the community is one of the core values of the StFX Athletic Department and is one not taken lightly by StFX varsity athletes. Each year student-athletes from all varsity teams volunteer their time to multiple fundraisers, special events and youth programs in an effort to give back to both the local Antigonish community and the StFX community. The Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) assists in the coordination of community service opportunities as StFX student-athletes contribute in access of 2000 hours of community service volunteer work every year.

Some of the annual events that the Athletic Department has been associated with over the past number of years include Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer Awareness nights, the Halloween Safe Crossing Program, Tim Horton’s Cupful a Cure in support of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation, the X Athletes for Charity event and X-Out Bullying.
