MacWilliams welcomed as assistant sports performance coach

StFX Athletics is pleased to welcome Owen MacWilliams to our athlete services team as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach for the upcoming varsity season. A native of Summerside, P.E.I., MacWilliams will be working closely with our Head Sports Performance Coach Josh Crouse, focusing his efforts as a lead coach with the X-Men Football, X-Women Rugby and X-Men & X-Women Soccer programs, along with assisting Crouse with the remaining varsity programs and doing some private training.

Crouse notes, "I am extremely excited to have Owen come to our campus as he is going to make an immediate impact with our program."

"I was fortunate enough to work with Owen early on in my career and he is an exceptional coach who has a wealth of knowledge and practical experience working in a high performance environment," continues Crouse. "He cares deeply about the growth and development of each and every athlete he works with and will go out of his way to give them the best possible experience during their time in our program."

A former football student-athlete at Wilfrid Laurier University, MacWilliams earned his Bachelor of Kinesiology degree at Acadia University where he was a lead strength and conditioning coach working alongside Crouse. He is the former Director of Andrews Sport Conditioning, an extension of Andrews Hockey Growth Programs in Charlottetown, and he worked with the rugby and basketball programs at UPEI as well. During his time in P.E.I, MacWilliams worked with amateur, NCAA, U SPORTS and professional athletes, and he has extensive experience preparing football athletes for CFL combines.

MacWilliams will join the StFX sports performance team in early August.
